“God rest you merry, Gentlemen” is a traditional Christmas carol from England. The composer is unknown, yet we know that it was published in 1833 and was well kown at the time.
The carol is mentioned in Charles Dickens‘ famous novel “A Christmas Carol” (1843); Ebenezer Scrooge heard it being sung outside the door of his office on Christmas Eve.
