Sometimes kids need to sing lyrics where the love for a friend is implied. These Friendship songs for preschoolers will help!
One of the first things that happens when kids go to school is that they make friends, so one of the reasons we sing is to confirm and strengthen the friendships that are created between children.
Even if the parent or teacher sees that this is not happening, they find ways to facilitate communication, alleviate problematic relationships, and emphasize the terms and conditions under which a friendship is established and maintained – and that is easier through a song.
The value of friendship is something we teach children, and anyone who takes on the role of teacher knows that it is a skill to which not everyone responds with the same ease. That said, a song is always a good start – or a good repetition – to emphasize how important friends are in our lives.

You’ve Got A Friend In Me (from “Toy Story”)
In difficult times, a friend is an invaluable treasure. The song was composed by Randy Newman and we know it through Pixar’s film Toy Story. Our little students, friends or children are inspired by the movie and the lyrics of the song will remind them who the real friend is. “All you have to do is call, And I’ll be there“, as the song says.
1. When you’re down and troubled
And you need some lovin’ care
And nothin’, nothin’ is goin’ right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
2. You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I’ll come runnin’
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there
You’ve got a friend
3. If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you’ll hear me knockin’ at your door
4. You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I’ll come runnin’, runnin’, yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yes, I will
5. Now, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend
When people can be so cold?
They’ll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don’t you let them
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I’ll come runnin’, runnin’, yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yes, I will
You’ve got a friend
You’ve got a friend
6. Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend
Ain’t it good to know, ain’t it good to know
Ain’t it good to know
You’ve got a friend
Oh, yeah, now, you’ve got a friend
Yeah baby, you’ve got a friend
Oh, yeah, you’ve got a friend

We Are Going To Be Friends
We may be preschoolers, but true friendships last and will follow us throughout our school lives. We play together, we study together, we grow up together!
1. Fall is here, hear the yell
Back to school, ring the bell
Brand new shoes, walking blues
Climb the fence, books and pens
I can tell that we are going to be friends
Yes, I can tell that we are going to be friends
2. Walk with me, Suzy Lee
Through the park and by the tree
We can rest upon the ground
And look at all the bugs we’ve found
Safely walk to school without a sound
We safely walk to school without a sound
3. Well, here we are no one else
We walk to school all by ourselves
There’s dirt on our uniforms
From chasing all the ants and worms
We clean up and now it’s time to learn
We clean up and now it’s time to learn
4. Numbers letters learn to spell
Nouns and books and show and tell
Play time we will throw the ball
Then back to class through the hall
The teacher marks our height against the wall
The teacher marks our height against the wall
5. And we don’t notice any time pass
Because we don’t notice anything
And we sit side by side in every class
The teacher thinks that I sound funny
But she likes it when you sing
6. Tonight I’ll dream in my bed
While silly thoughts run through my head
Of the bugs and alphabet
And when I wake tomorrow I’ll bet
That you and I will walk together again
Because I can tell that we are going to be friends
Yes, I can tell that we are going to be friends
7.
Auld Lang Syne
At the end of a day, of a week or of a celebration, we say goodbye to our friends. In a way we make a promise that we will think of them and that they will always have a place in our hearts until we meet again.

All You Need Is Love
Who denies love in their lives? We do not expect preschoolers to sing like the Beatles, but since love is a key component of friendship, let’s sing a little hymn to it, the way each of us can.
With a little love and a good friend, all our dreams can come true. The lyrics are not so difficult, let’s follow their flow and the rhythm of the song.
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung
Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game
It’s easy
Nothing you can make that can’t be made
No one you can save that can’t be saved
Nothing you can do, but you can learn how to be you in time
It’s easy
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown
There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be
It’s easy
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
(Love is all you need)
